"CORE" is a performance that portrays the complex state of a deteriorating mind. Intrigued by the situation in which the mind slowly fades, I delved into understanding dementia. My fascination with this subject led to the creation of this performance, in which both I and the audience become part of an inevitably declining brain. I aimed to create a performance that not only reflects the symptoms but also emphasizes the humanity and individuality behind the condition.
In this performance, the "CORE" is presented as a mind in action, where an individual vaguely and confusedly tries to keep everything running smoothly. Unfortunately, parts of the brain are no longer connected. More and more brain cells (neurons) are lost, an unavoidable decline that cannot be stopped. Double shadows and blurred depth perception reflect the visual challenges that people with dementia may experience. This sometimes results in short-circuits in the mind, creating total chaos.
