Immersed in the earthquake issues in Groningen, I have delved deeply into this theme because it has persisted for years without any significant action from the government. The fact that this matter remained unresolved for so long affected me, and I therefore felt urged to do something about it.
My focus was on exploring visual elements that, for me, symbolize the ongoing struggle of the people of Groningen. In particular, I became fascinated by the supports used to reinforce houses. They represent not only stability and strength for me but also the resilience of the Groningers facing this government-neglected situation.
Creating art around this theme felt like a necessary outlet to express the frustration and injustice I experience regarding this issue. My hope is that my work serves not only as a visual statement but also gives a voice to those who have suffered in silence for years.
