Camping has been part of my life and my family since I was young. For many years, we spent every summer with our tent on pitch 146V in Garderen, on the edge of the Veluwe. I am fascinated by how, as humans, we enter nature with poles, fabric, tent pegs, and belongings, in order to temporarily create a kind of mini-home there. A thin piece of tent fabric forms the boundary between inside and outside, causing you to look at your surroundings differently and live more in the moment.
In Staplaats 146V, I use the tent fabric from the tent in which I camped with my parents for many years. Abstract tent shapes appear on the wall, in which a cycle of sunrise and sunset is recreated. In addition, through etching, I explore how we leave an imprint on a place, while ultimately packing everything up again.
